With his friends and other resistance fighters captured and imprisoned by the cruel Razorbeard, the leader of the Robot-Pirates, Rayman must travel throughout the Great Forest freeing them and generally becoming a huge thorn and nuisance in Razorbeard's side.
Not only can Rayman use his abilities to flank his foes or conquer obstacles in his way, he can also kick robot butt with the energy spheres he can create in his hands and hurl at opponents. The spheres can also be charged up to do even more damage against bigger enemies.
Having been released over nine platforms over the last 12 years or so, Ubisoft has gotten a lot of mileage out of 'Rayman 2' but the title is really beginning to show its age. There is no arguing that 'Rayman 2' is one of the greatest 3D platformers ever developed. The gameplay has stood the test of time but the graphics are beginning to look somewhat dated and no amount of digital Botox is going to improve things. If you have never played the original and would like to experience a true classic of the genre, 'Rayman 3D' is worth a shot but only if you can overlook the intermittent 3D and camera glitches.
